VenueReady
For religious buildings, halls and community venues

Martyn's Law ready, without the jargon.

VenueReady helps volunteers write their four standard tier procedures, brief the whole team with proof, and keep everything in one place. Plain English, built on the Home Office guidance.

Free checker. Takes two minutes. No sign-up.

Where things stand: Martyn's Law is expected to start from spring 2027 at the earliest. No start date has been set yet. What we know so far

Who it's for

Built for the people who look after local buildings

Most of our users are volunteers with an hour to spare, not security professionals. That's who we design for.

Religious buildings

Churches, mosques, gurdwaras, synagogues and temples where 200 or more people may gather are standard tier, however large they are. We keep it simple for your welcome team.

Village and community halls

For halls that host 200 or more people from time to time, including events run by hirers you don't control.

Parish and town councils

Every hall, pavilion and event you're responsible for, in one place, with one view of who's done what.

Pubs and small venues

Get your procedures written and your staff briefed in an evening, with a record ready if anyone asks.

Why VenueReady

A free template gets you a document. VenueReady gets you ready.

Official templates are a good start. The hard part is making sure everyone knows the plan, and keeping it up to date when volunteers change.

01

Plain-English procedures

Guided questions for your evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication procedures, with a live preview as you go. No 100-page PDF.

02

Your people briefed, with proof

A one-page briefing made from your procedures. Volunteers confirm they've read it from a link or QR code on their phone, and you keep a record of who and when.

03

One pack, always up to date

Invite colleagues to help, add new volunteers in minutes, and print one tidy pack for your files or your committee.

How it works

Three steps, about an evening

  1. 1

    Check if you're in scope

Answer a few questions about your building and how many people come. If the law doesn't apply to you, we'll say so.

  2. 2

    Build your four procedures

Work through guided questions for each procedure. Save as you go, and invite a colleague to help.

  3. 3

Brief your team and keep the record

Share the briefing by link or QR code, record in-person briefings, and print your pack.

Common questions

Does Martyn's Law apply to our building?

It depends mainly on whether 200 or more people may be present at the same time, from time to time. Religious buildings and schools at that size are always standard tier. The free checker will tell you in two minutes.

Is VenueReady approved by the SIA or the Home Office?

No. The Home Office, the SIA and ProtectUK don't endorse any products. VenueReady is independent and follows the published statutory guidance.

Do we need to buy security equipment?

Not for standard tier. It's about having sensible procedures and making sure your team knows them.

What happens to our volunteers' names?

They're stored in the UK and used only to keep your venue's briefing record. Our privacy notice explains the details.

What if the start date moves?

Being prepared is worthwhile whenever the law starts, and your procedures stay valid. We'll keep you posted as official dates are confirmed.
